Q.What’s the minimum age requirement for dog boarding or daycare?
Puppies must be at least 16 weeks old and must have completed the necessary vaccinations. If your puppy is over 6 months old, they must be spayed or neutered. These rules are in place for the safety of your dog, as well as the others in our care.
Q.Does my dog need to be spayed or neutered to be accepted for dog boarding or daycare?
Only spayed and neutered dogs are accepted with the exception of puppies younger than 6 months.
Q.What type of dog breeds do you not accept for dog boarding or daycare?
Due to the communal nature of our playgroups/ boarding we cannot accept Dogo Argentino, Pit Bull, Bull Terrier, AmStaff Terrier or any predominant mix of these breeds. Additional behavioral screening may be required for power breeds and bully breeds.
Q.What vaccinations are required for dog boarding or daycare?
We require: Rabies, DHLP, Fecal, Bordetella/kennel cough (must be given every 6 months), Canine Flu vaccine is highly encouraged. All vaccinations must be given no less than 48 hours before entering our facility.
Q.Does my dog need to be evaluated before signing up?
We understand that every dog is unique and that every dog has the right and need to be social whether that be with other dogs or just humans! Before your dog joins the BHV family, we feel that it is important for us to get to know your dog as an individual so we can better cater to their needs. During a “trial day” we evaluate their individual personality to better match them with similar dogs during play time. We will also get them acquainted with our facility, so they are familiar with our staff and schedule the next time they stay or play. The trial day is $45.
Q.What are the requirements for my dog to attend dog boarding or daycare?
All dogs are to be evaluated (a day of daycare) by one of our approved staff members before signing up or purchasing daycare packages. We require at least 48 hours to elapse after your dog receives new vaccinations before boarding or daycare. All dogs must wear a collar with a proper ID tag for boarding or daycare.
Q.What do I need to bring when checking my dog for a boarding stay?
We strongly encourage you to bring your own food from home! A sudden change in your dog’s diet can cause stomach upset creating great discomfort for your dog. We do provide our own food for an additional charge – please see our location specific pages for cost, or check out our retail section for premium food and meal toppers for picky eaters.
If your dog takes medication we can also administer it as long as it is not an injectable medication. We do this for no extra charge – all we ask is that you let us know at check in what they are currently taking and their schedule.
