The Jones’ Story

Jeremy and I met in 1999 while working for the original Barking Hound Village in Atlanta after I moved down from New Brunswick, Canada. Jeremy was a part-time white-water raft guide on the Ocoee River in Tennessee and ended up being the dog whisperer in the early days of BHV. I was great with people and the business side so we made a perfect team both professionally and personally!

Not long after meeting we adopted Chip, a chocolate lab who was the original mascot of BHV Texas and lived to be 14-1/2. For the next several years we spent every weekend hiking and camping at the river. Those were some of the best years of our lives!

In 2003, we got married at Jeremy’s father’s farmhouse in northern Georgia before heading west to Austin to open the first Texas branch of Barking Hound Village. Austin gave us lots of new friends as well as an Aussie mix puppy, Brownie, who lived to be 16 ½. She was with us through the biggest part of our journey.

We moved to Big D in 2005 to create Barking Hound Village Dallas and two years later we purchased both Texas locations. With just a few signatures, Barking Hound Village Texas was born.

We decided it was time to expand in Dallas and after many years of searching for the absolute perfect location, we opened BHV Central in 2017.

And in more recent news, in the summer of 2020 the Austin location broke off on its own to give us more time to focus here in Dallas as we opened BHV Lake Highlands in 2021. We never would have imagined this is where we would end up for the rest of our careers, but we sure are grateful as Dallas has been really good to us.

We have added to our canine family along the way. We now have Banjo, the most adorable German Shep/Corgi mix we rescued from Paws in the City and Zuppa, a Border Collie/Shep mix we adopted from DFW Rescue Me.

With all the rescue dogs of our own over the years and a major soft spot for all homeless dogs out there, we created Kibble and Cocktails, an annual fundraiser to benefit DFW Rescue Me. One hundred percent of the proceeds go directly to their Justice Program which rehabilitates severely abused, abandoned, and neglected dogs in the DFW area. Barking Hound Village and Kibble and Cocktails have raised $416,000 in eight years and still more to come!

So here we are happily married and absolutely loving what we do. We work hard every day to make Barking Hound Village the ultimate boutique experience for you and your dog(s).
